I woke up trussed up tied down good with my head opened up on a concrete slab. Last thing I knew I think I fell asleep slightly drunk underneath my desk at the party in the doctor's lab. Doctor doctor, what's your plan? Will you destroy me or will you make me a man? Doctor doctor, here's the deal: I think I like the way you make me feel: Alive, Alive, Alive, Alive I think it feels good when you prod with your probes right there on my lobes ah Christ, Doctor don't stop now! If this is all there is - God - this is all I need - just a little electroshock and a gluco-saline feed and thou. Doctor doctor, tell me plain: Is this for real or is it in my brain? Doctor doctor, here's the deal: I think I like the way you make me feel: Alive, Alive, Alive Oh but then I see on the slab next to me: Another brain another body. And I say why? Doctor - I thought we were meant to be! But you're a two-timing double-dealing scientist playing Games with a brain that's in pain And you done me wrong Doctor - I thought I was your only one So if you could just unclamp us And unhand my hippocampus I'll say goodbye. I never will forgive you 'Cos I never could forget - wait Where was I? Where am I? Who am I? I think it's all right that you stay out late playing cards with the boys in the land mine lab next door; Just as long as when you come home you'll put your sweet hands, oh your sweet sweet hands on my left amygdala once more. Doctor doctor, tell me plain: Is this forever or is it just a game? Doctor doctor, here's the deal: I think I like the way you make me feel I think I love the way you make me feel I love the way you make me think I feel: Alive, Alive, Alive, Alive, Alive

Some days are good, Some days are bad, But she's the best you've ever had. And still you're terrified That it's all a lie and you'll end up alone. And you'll ask yourself “Why did I try I should have known” This is as good as it gets This is as good as it gets This is as good as it gets And just maybe You'll live through another regret Because she's good you want to leave her Because you're you you don't believe her Because you're terrified That deep inside Your wounds are scabbing over But she surprises you By loving all you feared to show her This is as good as it gets This is as good as it gets This is as good as it gets And just maybe You'll learn to live without your regrets Back when the drugs worked And the feelings hurt And a brighter lights were on you - Back in your hometown You were the hero And the headlines were about you - When you were hungry, When you were hungry - But now you're full. This is as good as it gets This is as good as it gets This is as good as it gets And just maybe You'll get by without your regrets

In the morning I have a cup of tea And think about the people who aren't me or you: How they all will burn in hell. The moral fiber's fraying! I watch them all parade on my TV. When we go shopping it's comforting to know A thousand eyes watch us wherever we do go And they help me sleep at night You know I trust you most. But just in case I like to keep you close. People always seem to worry About the things they keep inside Me I never need to worry, baby Cos I've got nothing to hide Yeah, I've got nothing inside But organs and love and failure I've got nothing to hide. The world is crazy except of course us two And honestly I'm not completely sold on you There's the company you keep, And you talk in your sleep It's safer to record you all the time. People always seem to worry About the things they keep inside But you, you don't need to worry, baby Cos I've got nothing decided Yeah, I've got nothing to hide Nothing to hide Nothing to hide Nothing to hide People always seem to worry About the things they keep inside Me I never need to worry, baby Cos I've got nothing to hide I've got nothing inside But dreams and meat and good intentions I've got nothing to hide.

It's Late 03:30
He put her on the pedestal away from the clouds below she asked him for the key to his heart instead he just turned to go He put his heart on her table next to her wine He asked her for the key to her car Instead she just drew the line Chorus: Why can't we both just face the truth that we can never be Our stroies are getting older And our tongues are tired The party is over and it's late So late The party is over and it's late She put him on the carousel spinning him round and round he asked her for the key to his heart Instead she just let him down To the ground Chorus: Why can't we both just face the truth that we can never be Our stroies are getting older And our tongues are tired The party is over and it's late So late The party is over and it's late Bridge: Can she have this dance tonight Will he take the chance if given Can he even say what's on his mind Why can't we both just face the truth that we can never be Our stroies are getting older And our tongues are tired The party is over and it's late Too late The party is over and it's late The party is over and it's late

I got a friend, and she's good to me She knows just what a poor boy needs. She doesn't make me beg or plead. 'Cos she's my friend She's my friend with benefits I'm talking optical and dental You can depend On your friend with benefits She'll keep you covered With life and accidental My girl works hard every day I guess one of us has got to. I get stressed out when she's away She holds the card that pays and pays and pays 'Cos she's my friend She's my friend with benefits With free massages for my tension. You can depend On a friend with benefits You know I think I even have a pension. I gotta say she takes my breath away But my inhaler's free so I'm okay. Her drug plan keeps my blues away. Cos she's my friend She's my friend with benefits She's got the money making talents. You can depend On your friend with benefits She'll give you work-life bI got a friend, and she's good to me She knows just what a poor boy needs. She doesn't make me beg or plead. Snowbank 03:06
Look at me I'm drunk in a snowbank Feeling lonely, feeling sorry, feeling fine I tried calling back but you won't answer I think it's over, but I don't mind I wish I could feel the things that I think The things I think that I feel about you But I'm sobering up the more that I drink And I can't catch this buzz I'm chasing The more I try the more it's fading Look at me I'm nodding and smiling While you keep talking all about yourself I guess I'm so fucking lonely I don't mind waiting To get inside your pretty dress I wish I could feel the things that I think The things I think that I feel about you But I'm sobering up the more that I drink And I try to laugh but it feels like faking Desperate like this love we're making And why can't I just find my faith By following all the rules you gave me? And I can't catch this buzz I'm chasing The more I try the more it's fading And why can't I just find my faith By following all the rules you gave me? Look at me I'm drunk in a snowbank Feeling older, feeling colder, feeling fine

There is a photo of her as a child Trusting and stubborn and solemn and wild And she can't yet know What the future holds. Out in the garden, She is asleep beneath the trees. And I know, yeah I know She's dreaming of me - Dreaming of me. Fifty years go by in no time at all, There's a child in her eyes as she speaks to me now, And I won't let her go But I can't let her in High in the treetops, There is a whisper on the breeze And I know, yeah I know She's dreaming of me. Rock a bye baby In the tree tops When the wind blows the Cradle will rock You to sleep Out in the garden, she is asleep beneath the trees. And I know, yeah I know She's dreaming of me - Dreaming of me.
